Trains in Georgia in 2025

Here are the options of major train destinations that we book tickets for.

Trains from Tbilisi to Batumi will take you to the Georgian Black Sea coast. All three locations have different types of accommodation, different beaches and different infrastructure. Trains on this route are comfortable Swiss-build Stadler 2-storey coaches. Full journey from Tbilisi to Batumi by train takes up to 5 hours and 20 minutes.
Same train leaving from Tbilisi also makes a quick stop in Kopitnari – this new train station is right next to the Kutaisi International Airport. Apart from this particular train leaving Tbilisi three times a day during Summer season, there are another options like a day Coach or an Express Train that also connect Georgian capital with Kutaisi airport. Kopitnari station can also be reached from Batumi.
Trains from Tbilisi to Zugdidi will bring you to the major stop-over point on the way to Mestia, in Svaneti region of Georgia. Taking train to Kutaisi will bring you to Georgia’s second biggest city. Kutaisi is a great base destination for day travels to Martvili and Okatse canyons. Or to Sataplia nature reserve.
Train tickets from Tbilisi to Yerevan (Armenia), and return, currently are available too for advance booking.
Train tickets from Tbilisi to Baku (Azerbaijan), and return, will become available starting from April 2025. This train will start operating again from May 2025.

It was a most unusual trip! If your goal is to truly understand a country, feel what it breathes and how it lives, then this is the place for you. You can learn about the love with which khachapuri is prepared in Batumi and the passion for tea in Gori. You will also discover the beauty of the abandoned city of Tskaltubo. Good afternoon. We went to Borjomi for 3 days. It’s so beautiful, it’s beyond words. And the air is so clean and dizzying. We came on our own. We drank Borjomi and walked around the park. I advise everyone to visit Georgia, they are extraordinary, hospitable people. They will show you and tell you about the history of Georgia. We were so happy to find this city quest in Tbilisi! This tour is an excellent way to understand the city, know some interesting facts, spend time with a family, friends.This tour is very well organized. The team is friendly and responsive quickly, price is very reasonable. Defenetly will take the second city quest. Thanks a lot!The best way to really see the city, understand its history, get to know the people. In one of the locations, where we had to figure out which house was built later, the locals saw us and started telling the stories of each of their houses and it was wonderful! It’s a pity that there are only 2 quests and we’ll definitely go to the second one

We took the Green Georgia small group tour in the summer of 2019. We had such a wonderful trip. I highly recommend this tour and this company. Our tour guide and driver were exceptional. Geotrend organised a 5 week tour of Georgia and Armenia for 6 of us. Based on our interests they developed an itinerary, arranged transport and accommodation. It was well coordinated and Geotrend were quick to respond to any issues that arose during the trip. We particularly enjoyed the homestays which were arranged for us.
