Itinerary: A Brief Look at Your Georgia Train Tour

Arrive in Tbilisi. Airport meet and greet, transfer to hotel (check-in after 2 pm). After a short rest, embark on a brief tour of Tbilisi, a city where diverse cultures have intertwined for centuries. Visit the underground printing house, Metekhi Church, King Vakhtang monument, ascend to Narikala Fortress by cable car, explore the Legvtakhevi gorge and waterfall, wander through the Sulphur Baths district, and conclude in the vibrant Shardeni area. Free evening. Overnight in Tbilisi.

Journey to Mtskheta, Georgia’s former capital, and the stunning Jvari Church overlooking the confluence of the Mtkvari and Aragvi rivers. Explore the Svetitskhoveli Monastery, believed to house Christ’s robe. In the afternoon, travel to the picturesque Bazaleti Lake for a delicious organic lunch at a local family tavern with lake views. Evening return to Tbilisi. Free time.

Morning check-out and transfer to Tbilisi train station. Enjoy a comfortable train ride to Kutaisi. Upon arrival, meet your guide and driver for your Western Georgia exploration. After hotel check-in and a short rest, tour Kutaisi, the legendary city of the Golden Fleece. Visit the old streets, central square, city park, and Bagrati Cathedral. Continue to the Gelati Monastery, a medieval center of spiritual and scientific life, and the dramatically located Motsameta Monastery. Free evening in Kutaisi.

Explore the fascinating Sataplia Nature Reserve, home to dinosaur footprints, karst caves, and the Colchic Forest, offering stunning views. Next, visit Tskaltubo, a semi-abandoned Soviet-era spa town with its unique atmosphere. Conclude the day at the breathtaking Martvili Canyons, where you can enjoy boat tours and admire the waterfalls. Return to Kutaisi for overnight.

Morning check-out and transfer to Kutaisi train station for a scenic train journey to Batumi. Upon arrival, check into your hotel and embark on a relaxing tour of this Black Sea city. Visit Batumi Boulevard, Europe Square, Nuriegel Lake, the Piazza, the moving Ali and Nino statue, stroll along Batumi Pier, and take a cable car ride for panoramic views. Free evening in Batumi.

Discover the hidden gem of the Machakhela Protected Areas, once closed to the public. Visit the visitor center, explore an ethnographic museum, and experience local life with a visit to a family producing cheese and honey, followed by lunch and wine tasting at a local winemaker’s home. On the return, stop at the medieval Tskhimlari arch bridge. Return to Batumi for overnight.

Enjoy a free day in Batumi to explore at your own pace.

In the afternoon, embark on a comfortable 5-hour train journey back to Tbilisi. Overnight in Tbilisi.

Check-out from the hotel by noon. Enjoy free time until your transfer to Tbilisi International Airport for your departure.

Good afternoon. We went to Borjomi for 3 days. It’s so beautiful, it’s beyond words. And the air is so clean and dizzying. We came on our own. We drank Borjomi and walked around the park. I advise everyone to visit Georgia, they are extraordinary, hospitable people. They will show you and tell you about the history of Georgia. So, come to Borjomi and see for yourself.And enjoy nature and taste national cuisine.

We were so happy to find this city quest in Tbilisi! This tour is an excellent way to understand the city, know some interesting facts, spend time with a family, friends.This tour is very well organized. The team is friendly and responsive quickly, price is very reasonable. Defenetly will take the second city quest. Thanks a lot!The best way to really see the city, understand its history, get to know the people. In one of the locations, where we had to figure out which house was built later, the locals saw us and started telling the stories of each of their houses and it was wonderful! It’s a pity that there are only 2 quests and we’ll definitely go to the second one

We took the Green Georgia small group tour in the summer of 2019. We had such a wonderful trip. I highly recommend this tour and this company. Our tour guide and driver were exceptional. Geotrend organised a 5 week tour of Georgia and Armenia for 6 of us. Based on our interests they developed an itinerary, arranged transport and accommodation. It was well coordinated and Geotrend were quick to respond to any issues that arose during the trip. We particularly enjoyed the homestays which were arranged for us.
