Itinerary

Day 1: Arrival in Tbilisi 

Arrive in Tbilisi. Our representative will meet you in the airport and arrange for a transfer from Tbilisi airport to the hotel. 

Free evening. Overnight

Day 2: Tbilisi city tour – train to Batumi 

After breakfast check-out from the hotel, and start your special Tbilisi city tour. Your guide will take you to the old town part and introduce to this ancient city’s major attractions: you will go up the Narikala fortress by cable car and listen to the Tbilisi founding legend. Your way down will follow narrow streets, cozy local homes and picturesque “fig” gorge with a small waterfall. Continue to the Georgian tea museum, and learn all about local tea produce, which started as early as 1847. Fascinating story will be followed by tea tasting ceremony. 

Keep on with the tour along the main street of Tbilisi – Rustaveli avenue. Architectural gems of the Georgian capital like Parliament building, National Drama Theater, Opera and Ballet theater will leave an unforgettable impression on everyone. Arrive to the “Tea House” private restaurant for late lunch.

After lunch we will transfer you to Tbilisi central train station and your journey will be then continued by train towards the Black Sea coast, to Batumi. 

Arrival in Batumi. Transfer to the hotel for overnight. 

Day 3: Tea farm visit

After breakfast at hotel drive to Tistelmta village, in the Guria region. Agro-Ethnic tour in 150-year-old traditional Gurian house with 100 square meter farm: take a walk in a hazelnut plantation and small bamboo forest, see collectionary vineyard of indeginous rare vines, walk down near tea bushes and learn about the tea making tradition of Guria. You will have a chance not only to see how real tea is made, but also try to do one yourself. Taste various kind of homemade tea with traditional sweets on the balcony right after. Enjoy cooking Gurian Khachapuri masterclass, relax under hundred-year old trees near a small river in the yard, afterward. In the evening have a traditional dinner with a local family with a toastmaster and local trio who will sing most distinct Georgian polyphonic traditional songs of Guria. 

Day 4: Gomis Mta tour

Breakfast on a balcony with a view of lesser Caucasus mountains in the 150 year old traditional house, drive towards Gomismta resort (33 km, 27 km not paved road), see Shemokmedi Monastery complex (12th century) on the way, continue the road for another hour and a half to reach resort village Gomis Mta on 2200 meter, located on a pick of the mountain with fantastic views, have a picnic and mingle with local cowherds on the resort, see Chinchao Lake (1 hour drive, unpaved road) and drive back to Batumi for overnight. 

Day 5: Machakhela nature reserve tour

The tour will take us to one of the most hidden gems of Georgia – the Machakhela Protected Areas. The area was closed for any kind of public access during the communist period, due to its proximity to the state border with Turkey. Visit the Machakhela Nature Reserve visitors’ center to learn about state- and private–sector-led activities towards sustainable development in the region. Drive up the mountains to see one of the oldest ethnographic museum collections in Georgia. Visit a local family producing cheese and honey. Lunch. 

On our way back, we stop at the medieval Tskhimlari arch bridge over the mountain river. A great place to take a group photo, encapsulating everything this Georgia tour is about 🙂 

Return to Batumi. 

Day 6: Batumi

After breakfast embark on a great relaxing tour of this beautiful city. Visit famous Batumi Boulevard, Europe Square, Nuriegel Lake, the Piazza, the statue of “Ali and Nino” (a constantly-moving metal statue of a man, Ali, and woman, Nino, slowly passing through and around each other. It represents love, as well as the friendship between different nationalities). Take a walk on Batumi Pier, and ride the longest cable car in the country up the mountain overlooking Batumi. It takes you 250 meters from sea level up to Anuria Mountain, looking back over the city to the sea. 

After lunch, visit the Batumi Botanical Garden. Its location makes it unique, among other reasons. Miles of floral specimens from all over the world, with myriad paths, eventually leading down to the water of Mtsvane Kontskhi (Green Cape), where you can take a quick dip at the beach to cool down after all the walking. 

Take an evening train back to Tbilisi. 

Transfer from train station to your hotel in Tbilisi. Overnight. 

Day 7: Departure from Tbilisi 

Check-out from the hotel till noon. Free time until transfer to the airport.
